Background ✨
Prime Minister Mark Carney said Canada sought private investment via long term concessions for Toronto Pearson, Vancouver, Montreal Trudeau and YYC Calgary, while retaining ownership of land and assets and reinvesting "tens of billions of dollars" raised into infrastructure including regional airports and local transport links.1 IAMAW previously launched a national petition urging the government to reject any airport privatisation, citing risks such as higher traveller costs, reduced oversight and pressure on wages and staffing.2
