Uganda calls on African governments to privatise airports

Ugandan Works and Transport Minister, John Nasasira, has called on African governments to privatise the management of their airports to improve airport standards (Monitor Online, 17-Aug-09). ICAO President, Robert Kobeh Gonzalez, supported Mr Nasasira's suggestion.

ICAO: "It is a very good scheme because they (airports) need flexibility and we promote it. If they are inside the normal bureaucracy of the government, they are difficult to operate," Robert Kobeh Gonzalez, President. Source: Monitor Online, 17-Aug-09.
