UAC: SJ100 commences flight tests

United Aircraft Corporation, via its official VKontakte account, announced (15-Mar-2025) the following achievements in aircraft manufacturing:

  • Import substituted Sukhoi SJ100 commenced flights tests under the certification programme;
  • First Irkut MC-21 prototype with a Russian engine assembled. The aircraft is being prepared for flight testing;
  • Ilyushin Il-114 completed more than 20% of certification flights;
  • Tupolev Tu-214 is being manufactured but output must be increased.

Russia's Minister for Industry and Trade, Anton Alikhanov, stated that the first flights for the import-substituted Irkut MC-21 with PD-14 engines and Sukhoi SJ100 with PD-8 engines were scheduled for 1H2025, with certification flight tests to follow1. The United Aircraft Corporation made significant progress with the Yakovlev production centre at Komsomolsk on Amur preparing for PD-8 engine flight testing2. A new 11,000sqm logistics centre for SJ100 engine production was planned, with RUB2.3 billion allocated for the project3.
