Tourism Australia: Mix of markets is changing
Tourism Australia international operations and aviation development manager Trent Banfield, speaking at Routes Asia 2025, stated (25-Mar-2025) the mix of markets for Australia is different from five years ago, with new services providing more options to reach the country. Mr Banfield said scheduled inbound seat capacity to Australia is forecast to increase 8% year-on-year in Apr-2025, with US carriers leading much of the expansion. Mr Banfield however noted seasonal capacity is a challenge, with carriers decreasing trans Pacific frequencies between Apr-2025 and Oct-2025 due to aircraft shortages and competing demand on US-Europe routes.
