Tiger Airways takes delivery of first owned aircraft

Tiger Airways took delivery of its first owned aircraft on 26-Jan-2010 - the first of two A320s purchased through its financing arrangement with Standard Chartered Bank. The carrier stated owning aircraft, instead of leasing them, will allow it to further reduce operating costs. The aircraft is Tiger's 18th, with a second owned aircraft to be delivered in Feb-2010. Tiger plans to use the aircraft to launch Singapore-Hong Kong service in Feb-2010 and Brisbane-Melbourne and Brisbane-Adelaide services in Mar-2010 - see Route Changes Table for more information.
