Thai Airways to purchase USD15bn in aircraft in next decade

Thai Airways president Piyasvasti Amranand announced plans for the carrier to purchase 75 aircraft plus spare engines between 2011 and 2022 at the total cost of about THB457 billion (USD15 billion) with an aim to developing its routes and increase earnings and to decommission ageing aircraft (MCOT, 26-Feb-2011). The board approved a plan on 25-Feb-2011 to order 38 aircraft between 2018 and 2022, in addition to the 105 it aims to add by the end of 2017.
