Thai Airways reports USD275m operating loss in 2018

Thai Airways reported (01-Mar-2019) the following financial highlights for the 12 months ended 31-Dec-2018:

  • Total operating revenue: THB199,500 million (USD6062 million), +3.9% year-on-year;
    • Passenger and excess baggage: THB160,255 million (USD4870 million), +1.8%;
      • Regional: THB88,430 million (USD2687 million), +2.4%;
      • International: THB61,221 million (USD1860 million), +3.3%;
      • Domestic: THB9854 million (USD299.4 million), -15.3%;
    • Cargo: THB22,340 million (USD678.9 million), +10.2%;
  • Total operating costs: THB208,558 million (USD6338 million), +10.3%;
    • Fuel: THB60,096 million (USD1826 million), +19.7%;
    • Labour: THB30,875 million (USD938.2 million), +3.9%;
  • Operating profit (loss): (THB9058 million) (USD275.2 million), compared to a profit of THB2856 million in p-c-p;
  • Net profit (loss): (THB11,625 million) (USD353.3 million), compared to a loss of THB2107 million in p-c-p;
  • Passenger yield: THB2.19 (USD 6.7 cents), +0.9%;
  • Cargo yield: THB8.51 (USD 25.9 cents), +6.6%;
  • Total assets: THB268,721 million (USD8166 million);
  • Cash and cash equivalents: THB13,692 million (USD416.1 million);
