SWISS will phase out A340-300 over time: CEO
SWISS CEO Dieter Vranckx, speaking at CAPA Live from Puerto Rico October 2021, stated (13-Oct-2021) the airline is committed to phasing out its "four engine aircraft over time", including eventually phasing out its A340-300s. Mr Vranckx stated: "The reason why we are still flying the A340-300s is that they give us quite a high degree of flexibility... Range-wise, you can send them almost anywhere in the world". He added that SWISS also continues to operate A340-300s due to their cargo capacity, noting: "during the last 12-18 months, cargo has played an important role in keeping up a large degree of our intercontinental network".
