South Korea's int'l pax numbers up 9% in Nov-2012, pax to/from China up 14%

South Korea's Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs reports (20-Dec-2012) the following traffic highlights for Nov-2012. Details include:

  • Passenger numbers:
    • Domestic: 1.8 million, -1.4% year-on-year;
      • LCCs: 810,000, +7.5%;
    • International: 3.8 million, +9.0%;
    • By region:
      • Japan: 901,930, -5.5%;
      • China: 833,065, +13.8%;
      • Southeast Asia: 1.3 million, +17.3%;
      • Americas: 307,367, +6.0%;
      • Europe: 227,585, +13.6%;
      • Oceania: 144,549, +12.7%;
      • Others: 59,086, +12.3%.
  • Flights: 45,891, +6.9%.

According to the Ministry, South Korea's full service carriers accounted for 66.9% of total international passengers in Nov-2012 while the nation's LCCs accounted for 8.4% of the total international passengers, up 3.3 ppts. South Korea's LCCs accounted for 45.9%, up 3.8 ppts of the total domestic passenger numbers in Nov-2012.
