Seoul Incheon Airport and PT Angkasa Pura I launch Safe Corridor Initiative

Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC) and Angkasa Pura I signed (14-Sep-2020) an agreement to launch a Safe Corridor Initiative (SCI) programme, under which the parties will cooperate to establish a Safe Corridor between Seoul Incheon International Airport and Bali Denpasar Ngurah Rai Airport. IIAC recorded a 29% year-on-year increase in passenger traffic on Seoul Incheon-Bali services in 2019, but scheduled services on the route have been suspended since Mar-2020, due to the outbreak of coronavirus. The Safe Corridor is expected to restore travel confidence by reducing concerns over air travel. Entities, including airports, airlines, accommodation operators, surface transport providers and hospitality service providers, will be required to pass an assessment to verify sufficient disease control capabilities in order to become an SCI member. SCI members will work together to implement the following measures to establish Safe Corridors between airports:

  • Media promotion to enhance the awareness of safe corridors locally and internationally using various news media channels;
  • Targeted promotion for tour operators and airlines to generate new package tours and additional flight services between member airports;
  • Promotion of travel bubble agreements through collaboration with government authorities. [more - original PR]
