Second commercial airport in Atlanta not viable

USHartsfield-Jackson International Airport and the City of Atlanta announced a second commercial airport in the region would be cost prohibitive (publicbroadcasting.net, 18-May-2011). A study released by the two parties looked at 29 airports in the region and considered a host of factors associated with adding commercial services at each location. “It basically came back and said the sites at this point in time were not financially feasible,” stated Atlanta Airport manager Lewis Miller.
