Background ✨
San Francisco International Airport previously said the Runway one Right repaving programme was ahead of schedule, with reopening expected no later than 29-Sep-2026; the USD215 million project included USD92.1 million in US FAA funding and Granite Construction Company received the contract on 06-May-2025.1 During the closure, the US FAA planned safety restrictions prohibiting side-by-side approaches on the parallel east-west runways and requiring staggered approaches, reducing maximum movements from 54 to 36 per hour.2
