Ryanair implemented significant capacity reductions at regional airports in Spain and France in response to increased airport fees and passenger taxes, with Spain seeing an 18% reduction in operations for summer 2025 and France expecting 50% capacity cuts at 10 regional airports from January 20251 2. The airline cited underutilisation and called for lower charges and more effective incentive schemes to stimulate regional growth1.
