Ryanair previously announced a 41% reduction in capacity in Spain's regions and 10% in the Canary Islands for winter 2025/26, citing "excessive and uncompetitive airport charges" from Aena, with plans to suspend routes to several regional airports including Asturias and redirect capacity to lower-cost markets such as Italy, Morocco, Croatia and Albania1. Aena planned to increase airline fees by 6.5% in 2026 and disputed Ryanair's claims regarding its charges2.
