Rio de Janeiro GIG and Belo Horizonte CNF concessions to be awarded 30-Oct-2013: Minister

Brazil's Rio de Janeiro Galeão International Airport and Belo Horzionte Tancredo Neves International Airport tenders will be awarded on 30-Oct-2013, according to Civil Aviation Minister Moreira Franco (Agência Brasil, 30-May-2013). Mr Franco said, "The goal is to ensure the culture of the airport operator is such as to place to place our airports at an international standard." As previously reported by CAPA, the draft concession agreement for the two facilities was recently revealed, with the specifications to be finalised by Sep-2013 and the auction held in Oct-2013. The draft calls for winners to invest BRL5.2 billion (USD2.4 billion) investment in upgrades Galeão and a BRL3.5 billion (USD1.6 billion) investment in upgrades at Tancredo Neves.
