REDjet cancels services to Jamaica, still lacking approval

REDjet is cancelling its services to Jamaica for this week less than 24 hours after making its inaugural service to Guyana (Nationnews.com/Caribbean360/Jamiaca Observer, 11-May-2011). The carrier sent an email to passengers explaining Jamaica services may be cancelled next week as wwll. The carrier is still awaiting official approval from the Trinidad and Tobago authorities to commence services from 14-May-2011, which is a week later than originally planned.

Business Development Director Robbie Burns: "Due to political and regulatory actions in Jamaica beyond our control, REDjet cannot operate flights between Barbados to Jamaica between 11-May-2011 and 24-May-2011." Source: Company Statement, 11-May-2011.
