Qatar Airways introduces A380 to Sydney, increases capacity on route by 44%

Qatar Airways announced (18-Sep-2016) the introduction of 517 seat A380 aircraft on Doha-Sydney service after just six months of operation on the route. The deployment increases daily capacity on the route by 44% and will add more than 116,000 seats p/a. Sydney has become Qatar Airways' first destination in Australia to be served by the aircraft, replacing 358 seat Boeing 777-300 aircraft deployed since 01-Mar-2016. Qatar Airways Group CEO Akbar Al Baker said: "From the moment we inaugurated service to Sydney earlier this year, we have been welcomed with open arms. Customers flying to and from Sydney appreciate our global route network and our efficient flight schedules, which save them hours of time on the average itinerary.
