Qantas engineers to commence work bans on 13-Nov-2009

Qantas engineering staff have voted to commence a number of work bans in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, through union, Association of Professional Engineers, Scientists and Managers (APESMA) (Herald Sun, 06-Nov-2009). The staff will launch bans on overtime work and out of hours call-outs from 13-Nov-2009, after Qantas rejected the union's request to increase engineering pay by 30% over three years. The union stated it was hopeful the carrier would intervene before the bans. Qantas stated it does not expect to ground any aircraft as a result of the action.
