Qantas CEO says 'people shouldn’t be worried about consolidation'; is 'big fan' of consolidation'

Qantas Airways Group CEO Alan Joyce, speaking at a media briefing at the IATA AGM and World Air Transport Summit, noted (05-Jun-2018) that the aviation industry is a "very fragmented industry", and there exists scope for consolidation in Europe. Mr Joyce said "people shouldn't be worried about consolidation" as it provides a range of new opportunities, and reflects a changing industry. Mr Joyce stated consolidation in North America and Europe has been "done successfully", with the market and competition evolving as a result of consolidation and governments stepping away from direct involvement in live. He stated he was a "big fan" of consolidation as long as there are "prerequisites" and "proper regulation".
