Qantas announces new business class suites and economy class seats for 787s

Qantas launched (27-Oct-2016) business class suites and economy seats for its Boeing 787-9 aircraft scheduled for delivery from 2017. The aircraft will be configured with 236 seats in business, premium economy and economy cabins. Business class will feature fully-flat seats in a 1-2-1 layout with each suite having direct aisle access. The new economy class seats will feature an additional inch of seat pitch compared to the airline's A380s, a personal device holder and USB ports, more storage areas and a 5% larger high definition touchscreen. The premium economy cabin will feature a new seat and will be unveiled in early 2017. Qantas CEO Alan Joyce said the carrier is redesigning the inflight experience for the 787-9, including rethinking menus and making better use of self-service bars. The aircraft will gradually take over routes operated with 747s and add new city pairs to the network. [more - original PR]
