Qantas Airways chief sustainability officer: 'It is costly to decarbonise'

Qantas Airways chief sustainability officer Fiona Messent, speaking at the CAPA Airline Leader Summit Australia Pacific, stated (29-Jul-2026) sustainable aviation fuel "is available now, it is a drop-in fuel", noting: "It's why we're so focused on getting it right". Ms Messent stated: "If we wait too long, I think the costs that we're seeing will be immigrated", adding: "It is costly to decarbonise".
