Peach and AirAsia Japan to compete in different markets: ANA

ANA President Shinichiro Ito stated (21-Jul-2011) that Peach Aviation and AirAsia Japan will compete in two different markets, with Peach serving the Kansai region, which has a population of around 20 million people. AirAsia Japan will be based at Tokyo Narita International Airport. ANA also stated there is enough Japanese cockpit crew to support the start-ups due to the downsizing of JAL. In response to a question on cockpit crew resources, fleet type and product distribution, ANA noted: "The new company AAJ hasn't been officially registered and no decisions have been formed about such items. And moreover at this point there's been no decision on where to fly - although there will be a mixture of domestic and international routes." The carrier also stated it would work with major Japanese travel agents to sell the fares of its LCCs.
