PASS: Proposal to shift ATC responsibility away from FAA 'risky and unnecessary'

Professional Aviation Safety Specialists (PASS), a union representing 11,000 employees at US FAA, expressed (16-Mar-2017) concern of the White House FY2018 budget blueprint including language to shift ATC responsibility from the FAA. PASS national president Mike Perrone stated the proposal is a "risky and unnecessary step at this pivotal point in modernisation of the US aviation system", adding: "True progress is being made in development and implementation of critical technology and systems through the initiatives and projects associated with the Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen)".
