New Zealand’s Regional Infrastructure Fund (RIF) previously earmarked up to NZD30 million in concessionary loans for small passenger airlines, administered via Kānoa, alongside funding for digital upgrades to enable interlining.1 Golden Bay Air became the first RIF recipient, securing a NZD1.1 million loan to refinance aircraft debt and fund major maintenance, supporting services from Tākaka to Nelson, Karamea and Wellington.2 Hamilton Airport also received a NZD6.5 million RIF loan for a runway extension to accommodate aircraft including Boeing 787 and A330 types, with works planned for late 2026.3
