New leasing company, Vmo Aircraft Leasing, formed by Ares Management Corporation

Ares Management Corporation and aviation industry veterans, including Bob Brown, Sean Sullivan and Will Hudson, announced (12-Jan-2021) the launch of Vmo Aircraft Leasing, a newly-formed company to acquire and lease commercial aircraft. Funds managed by Ares' Private Equity Group and Vmo management have committed approximately USD500 million in initial equity capital to support Vmo, which will target a global and diversified portfolio of modern, next-generation and efficient commercial aircraft. Details include:
  • Bob Brown will initially serve as CEO, transitioning to executive chairman over the next 12 months. Most recently, he served as CEO of Vx Capital Partners. Prior to co-founding Vx Capital Partners, Mr Brown was an EVP at Pegasus Aviation, where he was responsible for aircraft financing;
  • Sean Sullivan will initially serve as Vmo's chief commercial officer, transitioning to CEO over the next 12 months. He most recently served as head of Americas at AerCap before joining Vx Capital Partners in 2020;
  • Will Hudson, who was also a founding partner of Vx Capital Partners, will serve as the chief operating officer of Vmo. At Vx Capital Partners, he was responsible for aircraft leasing, asset management and engine portfolio activities.
