Narita to open LCCT in FY2013; 13 LCCs express interest

Japan's Tokyo Narita Airport confirmed plans to open an LCCT in FY2013 (The Asahi Shimbun, 18-Oct-2010). The airport received approval from local governments on 13-Oct-2010 to increase landing and take-off slots at the airport from 220,000 to 300,000 p/a, with the LCCT to be constructed either on land at the airport's southern tip or next to Terminal 2. Thirteen LCCs, including AirAsia, have showed interested in using the LCCT, with seven or eight carriers expected to use the new terminal when it opens.
