Narita Airport considering construction of LCCT

Japan's Narita International Airport Corp, operator of Tokyo Narita International Airport, is considering constructing a new terminal exclusively for LCCs (Asahi Shimbun, 08-Jun-2010). The airport operator has been consulting with about 20 LCCs since 2009 to assess whether there is sufficient demand for the terminal, which would be constructed in an aircraft maintenance area near Runway A. An alternative plan is to use the existing second passenger terminal. The airport is negotiating with local authorities on expanding the annual landing and take-off slots from 220,000 to 300,000.
