Melbourne Airport trialling new gates which could reduce screening time to 12-15 secs

Australia's Melbourne Tullamarine Airport GM strategy, planning & development Bryan Thompson, speaking at the CAPA Australia Pacific Aviation Summit, stated (06-Aug-2014) new generation passenger screening gates which are being trialled for the next six-to-nine months could reduce screening time to 12-15 seconds per passenger. Mr Thompson said the capability of the gates "vastly exceeds" those installed at the moment.
