Mauritius Airport establishing COVID-19 testing facility ahead of potential border reopening

Mauritius' Government announced (18-Aug-2020) a COVID-19 testing laboratory is being established at Mauritius Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport and will be operational "in a few weeks". The facility will provide polymerase chain reaction test for all arriving passengers. The government will consider reopening borders and resuming scheduled commercial air services once the testing laboratory is operational and all sanitary protocols are finalised, subject to how successful Mauritius and other countries are in managing the pandemic. Mauritius has implemented border restrictions since 19-Mar-2020 and all passengers arriving from overseas are required to undergo a 14 day quarantine. [more - original PR]
