Malaysia Airlines set to join oneworld alliance on 01-Feb-2013

Malaysia Airlines announced (06-Dec-2012) it is set to join the oneworld alliance on 01-Feb-2013. Malaysia Airlines Group CEO Encik Ahmad Jauhari Yahya said, "We are on the last lap of the path towards becoming a full-fledged member of a fast growing award-winning alliance. Almost all system interface and fares standardization requirements for this membership have been completed." Mr Yahya said the membership in the alliance will "strengthen out competitive position considerably" and will "enable us also to tap into all the financial benefits that come from being part of a global alliance, through additional passenger feed and cost reduction opportunities". Malaysia Airlines will be the 12th member of the alliance and will be followed by SriLankan Airlines and Qatar Airways. [more - original PR]
