Macau Airport commences design phase for second terminal project

Macau International Airport commenced (18-Aug-2020) the design phase for its terminal two and heliport project on 18-Aug-2020. The project will involve modification of the Taipa Ferry Terminal into the airport's second passenger terminal, while the management and operation of the Taipa Ferry Terminal heliport facilities will be handed over to the Macau International Airport Company. Design and technical support services for the project were awarded to a JV between CCCC-Airport Investigation and Design Institute and CCCC-FHDI Engineering. The design phase is expected to be completed by the end of 2020. Research will also be conducted on selecting suitable airlines to operate at T2 and on introducing new airport equipment and systems. The dedicated operating area of T2 and the heliport is expected to reach 56,000sqm with capacity for two million passengers p/a. T2 is expected to be operational by the end of 2021.
