Airlines for Europe warned planned passenger-rights reforms could double airlines' annual compensation costs to EUR15 billion, with A4E MD Ourania Georgoutsakou saying the burden would drive structurally higher fares and arguing disruption costs should be shared across the travel chain, including ATC and border controls.1 The European Regions Airline Association said 35 regional airline CEOs signed an open letter urging EU policymakers to suspend the EU261 revision, with DG Montserrat Barriga calling for a reassessment to avoid putting essential air links at risk.2
