Emirates president Tim Clark said it was ready to add daily widebody services to Berlin and Stuttgart, arguing both economic centres were underserved for long haul connectivity and that demand forecasts suggested full flights, pending German transport ministry approval1. Lufthansa Group previously argued Berlin’s connectivity constraints stemmed from high state-imposed location costs and weak short/medium haul European capacity, and said liberalising Gulf traffic rights mainly fed Asia/Africa flows rather than building Berlin long haul links2.
