LCCs will increasingly be able to buy out legacy carriers: Former Ryanair chairman

Peach Aviation non-executive director and former Ryanair chairman Patrick Murphy, speaking at CAPA's LCCs & New Age Airlines in North Asia conference in Macau, predicted (05-Sep-2012) that LCCs will increasingly be able to buy out legacy carriers, and will do so. "There will be calamities in the process," Mr Murphy said. Mr Murphy was reflecting on Ryanair's 20% stake in Aer Lingus and a possible but contentious takeover offer by Ryanair.
