LAN asks Chilean antitrust tribunal to drop probe into planned merger

Chile's LAN will reportedly asked the Chilean antitrust tribunal to drop a probe into a planned merger with Brazilian carrier TAM (Reuters, 2-Feb-2011). The Chilean tribunal's probe puts a temporary hold on the merger plan and could delay or even block the bid. Meanwhile Brazil's antitrust regulator, Cade, announced it may ask the companies for a buy-reversal plan.
