Region: Latin America : Lower South America

Aviation in Chile operates under the open skies multilateral agreements of the Andean Pact and the Mercosur Fortaleza accord.  The main airport is in the capital Santiago – Comodoro Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport, better known as Santiago International Airport – which is the hub for national carrier LAN Airlines (now under the LATAM Airlines Group). The second key airport is Carriel Sur International Airport, which mainly serves domestic traffic for LATAM and Sky Airlines. Latin American Wings become the third Chilean carrier in Jan-2017, after it received an AOC from Chile's DGAC.

The Chilean Air Traffic Controllers' Association (Colegio de Controladores de Tránsito Aéreo de Chile AG) controls air navigation service for Chile and the Civil Aeronautical Board is the regulatory body.
