Korean Air reports record USD1bn in cargo sales in 2Q2020

Korean Air reported (06-Aug-2020) cargo division sales increased 94.6% year-on-year to a record KRW1225.9 billion (USD1 billion) in 2Q2020. Bellyhold operations were restricted due to a sharp decline in passenger operations, but FTKs increased 17.3% as a result of active efforts to attract demand. The continued impact of the coronavirus pandemic is expected to result in a difficult business environment in 2H2020. Korean Air aims to maximise profits by actively attracting demand for the shipment of quarantine supplies, e-commerce, semiconductor equipment and auto parts. The airline also plans to remove seats from passenger aircraft to increase cargo capacity. [more - original PR - Korean]
