KLM to receive up to EUR4bn in state aid in response to COVID-19 crisis

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and the Dutch Government announced (24-Apr-2020) KLM will be provided with financial assistance totalling between EUR2 billion and EUR4 billion, in response to the COVID-19 crisis. The structure of the support, which is expected to consist of a guarantee and a loan, is yet to be finalised. Dutch Minister for Finance Wopke Hoekstra said the government is committed to do "everything it takes to help Air France-KLM through this crisis". He added KLM and Amsterdam Schiphol Airport are "vital" to the Dutch economy, with more than 100,000 jobs depending directly and indirectly on the airport alone.
