Kenya Airports Authority ceases Jomo Kenyatta International Airport project for further review

Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) reportedly ceased construction of the USD365 million expansion of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, funded by Qatari investors, to enable the Board to assess the plans further (Kenya Broadcasting Corporation, 17-Mar-2010). The project would include a five-star hotel, hospital and shopping mall. The initial plan involved an 80 year lease of a 90 acre land plot to Qatari investors, while the KAA would get a percentage of gross earnings. The project was scheduled for completion in 30 years.
