Japan Airlines to reduce sales commission for domestic tickets

Japan Airlines, as part of its corporate restructuring efforts, reportedly plans to reduce the sales commissions to travel agencies for domestic air tickets by more than 50% (The Yomiuri Shimbun, 12-Dec-2009). JAL currently pays sales commissions to travel agencies on domestic tickets at rates of 5-7%, with this to be reportedly reduced to 0-2.5%. Both JAL and ANA have previously abolished the ticket sales commission system for international services.
