Irish air traffic growth bucks European trend in Oct-2012

Irish Aviation Authority reported (12-Nov-2012) total air traffic in Irish airspace increased 0.5% year-on-year in Oct-2012 with the growth going against prevailing European trend. The average daily flights reached 1450 with the busiest day on 19-Oct-2012 with 1685 flights in Irish airspace. Commercial terminal traffic at Dublin, Cork and Shannon airports increased for the third consecutive month at 6.9%, driven by a significant rise in international arrivals and departures at Dublin Airport. Commercial terminal flights at the three airports are as follows:

  • Dublin: +10.5% with an average of 470 daily movements;
  • Cork: +1.5%, with an average of 60 daily movements;
  • Shannon: -12.9%, with an average of 50 daily movements. [more - original PR]
