IndiGo to deploy 15-18% of capacity internationally by end of fiscal year

IndiGo President Aditya Ghosh stated that by the end of the current fiscal year, between 15% and 18% of the carrier's capacity will be deployed for international routes (Economic Times, 30-Jun-2011). The carrier is commencing international operations on 01-Sep-2011. Its first international service will be on the Delhi-Dubai sector, followed by services from Delhi to Singapore and Bangkok and then from Mumbai to Dubai and Bangkok. The carrier also has plans to connect Mumbai to Muscat and Singapore. During winter, the carrier hopes to operate Kolkata-Kathmandu service. He added "there is huge scope for low-cost traffic between India and West Asia and India and Southeast Asia".
