India's Civil Aviation Ministry receives increased budgetary allocation of USD767m in FY2017/2018
India's Ministry of Finance, in its Union Budget 2017/2018, stated (01-Feb-2017) noted that India's Civil Aviation Ministry will receive a substantial increase of over 22% in budgetary allocation at INR51.7 billion (USD767 million) for FY2017/2018. Out of the ministry's total allocation, allocation is as follows:
- Air India will receive INR18 billion (USD267 million), extended as part of the bailout package announced in 2012. Air India will also receive INR5.1 billion (USD75 million) as part of investment in public enterprises;
- Airports Authority of India has been allocated INR25.4 billion (USD377 million) apart from a budgetary support of INR1 billion (USD15 million);
- India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation budgetary funding has been increased from INR297 million (USD4.4 million) in the current budget to INR2.3 billion (USD34 million);
- Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has been allocated INR2.1 billion (USD32 million).
