India's aviation industry poised for significant growth: DGCA

India's Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) Director General EK Bharat Bhushan stated India's aviation industry is poised for significant growth (PTI/Indo Asian News Service, 11-Jul-2011). He forecast that the number of aircraft operated by the seven scheduled private carriers in India will increase from 433 in 2010 to over 1000 in the next 15 years. "The financial meltdown, which gripped the world in 2007-08, had its reflection in our aviation sector as well. But, now, we have returned to the growth path in a big way," he said.
