India to invest UDS780m to upgrade 36 airports

India's Ministry of Civil Aviation Joint Secretary, Alok Sinha, stated India would invest USD780 million in the current financial year (to 01-Apr-2011) to upgrade 36 airports (Dow Jones, 10-Aug-2010). Of the USD780 million, approximately USD346 million is expected to be raised through loans and USD130 million would be offered as a grant by the Federal Government. The remaining amount would be invested by the Airports Authority of India.
