ICAO projects international air travel could lose 1.2bn pax by Sep-2020
ICAO projected (22-Apr-2020) that by Sep-2020, international air passenger totals could drop by as many as 1.2 billion travellers compared to a "business-as-usual" case. The organisation estimated that international capacity could drop by as much as two thirds from previous forecasts for the first three quarters of 2020, leading airline revenues to drop by USD160 billion to USD253 billion for the year to Sep-2020. Europe and Asia Pacific will be hardest hit by the capacity and revenue impacts, followed by North America. The most substantial reduction in passenger numbers is expected to be in Europe, especially during the peak summer travel season, followed by Asia Pacific. [more - original PR]
