IATA pushes ahead with cooperation agenda with CANSO

IATA director general and CEO Tony Tyler said (12-Feb-2013) the association is proposing an agenda of cooperation with the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation (CANSO) with the aim of transforming global air traffic management (ATM) performance. The agend of cooperation is focused on what Mr Tyler believes are naturally shared aims to build a modern ATM system that:

  • Prioritises safety, efficiency and environmental benefits;
  • Is globally harmonised and interoperable;
  • Properly utilises the avionics investment of the airlines;
  • Is cost effective.

Mr Tyler said what is needed is for airlines and ANSPs to work together as partners and deliver results that make airlines, ANSPs and the air transport industry stronger. Mr Tyler aslo highlighted a need for greater airspace user consultation and involvement in the decision-making process for planning and investment. [more - original PR]
