IATA: Pax down almost 100% across all Africa and Middle East markets in Apr-2020

IATA, via its Jun-2020 Africa and Middle East regional briefing, reported (29-Jun-2020) passenger volumes decreased 98.3% year-on-year in Africa and 97.3% in the Middle East in Apr-2020, double the size of the decreases recorded in Mar-2020. Load factor decreased 63pp for Africa and 52pp for the Middle East. All the regions' key international markets posted traffic declines of close to 100%. Since the start of 2020, the smaller Africa-Asia market recorded the largest decline in passenger volumes at 47%, as it was one of the first markets to be impacted by travel restrictions.
