House approves FAA and surface transportation funding extension

US House of Representatives approved (13-Sep-2011) an extension to continue programmes for the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), as well as Federal highway, transit and highway safety programmes. HR 2887 unanimously passed the House. The bill authorises FAA programmes through 31-Jan-2012 at current funding levels. The current extension authorising FAA programmes expires on 16-Sep-2011. The Senate is expected to vote on the bill later this week. If passed, it will be the 22nd temporary extension to the FAA's funding authority since permanent funding expired in 2007.
