Hokkaido Airports MD reports growing trend of repeat visitors

Hokkaido Airports MD aviation business development Kenjiro Karahashi, speaking at Routes Asia 2025, reported (26-Mar-2025) "more and more people are coming to Japan repeatedly", with the proportion of travellers to Hokkaido who had visited three or more times increasing from 40% in 2011 to 52% in 2023. Mr Karahashi also noted the purpose of travel to Japan is trending away from goods consumption and shopping towards personal experiences, accommodation and food and drink.
